No, you don’t need a referral from a GP to book an appointment with an osteopath. You can contact the clinic directly to schedule a session.
You will be required to fill in an Intake form prior to your appointment which will include a detailed medical history
Your Osteopath will ask you questions about your presenting complaint before doing a physical examination. This will involve getting you to move in certain ways and pressing in certain places to identify the structures causing pain or restriction.
By now, your osteopath should have a working diagnosis and will treat you based on what they have found in the examination. By the end of the appointment, they should be able to provide you with additional information that will help you move and feel better.
Please bring any relevant medical reports, scans, or a list of medications. Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement.
